General Information
HEALTH AND MEDICAL INFORMATION
No special inoculations are required for travel to South Africa, Zambia, or Mozambique.
Our camps in South Africa are located mainly in malaria-free areas, while all camps in Zambia and Mozambique are situated in malaria regions.
We strongly recommend that you contact your medical aid provider to confirm that you are covered for any accidents during international travel. Additionally, we advise all travellers to obtain comprehensive travel insurance in case an emergency affects your ability to travel.
COMMUNICATION
Wi-Fi is available in all camps. Please keep time zones in mind—there is a 7-hour time difference between our locations and Eastern Standard Time (USA). If you plan to use your mobile phone internationally, remember to activate international roaming before departing your home country.
CLIMATE AND CLOTHING
During our winter months (May–August), the weather is generally very pleasant. Expect chilly mornings, warm, sunny afternoons, and cold evenings. While rain is possible, it is unlikely at this time of year. From March to April and September to October, the weather becomes significantly warmer compared to our winter
months. Daily laundry services are provided, so three to four sets of clothing are typically sufficient. For hunting activities, we
recommend wearing olive, brown, tan, or green clothing to blend in with the natural environment.
TIPPING
Tipping is customary when hunting in Africa. Hunters are respectfully encouraged to leave a cash tip (preferred) at their own discretion for the PHs and camp staff. You are welcome to contact our office for country-specific tipping guidelines prior to your hunt. If you would like to bring small gifts, we recommend school supplies, as many local families cannot easily afford these items for their children.
BOOKINGS
In most cases, a 50% deposit of your quoted hunt is required to secure your safari. However, in South Africa, the standard deposit is $3,500 for plains game hunts and $4,500 for buffalo hunts. For Zambia and Mozambique, the remaining 50% balance (excl. trophy fees) must be paid at least 60 days prior to the
start of your hunt. The final balance for all hunts is payable at the end of your safari, before departing the Dries Visser concessions.
Payments may be made by cash, credit card, or bank draft, depending on the country in which you are hunting.
