Our hunting grounds stretch from the lush Limpopo Valley, across the expansive savannas of the Free State, to the rugged Leopard Mountains of Namibia, and extend all the way to the thrilling dangerous game territories of Mozambique and Zambia.

Our vast areas are home to large herds of plains and dangerous game, the elusive leopard, and some of the world’s most remarkable birds and reptiles. With unmatched trophy quality and game abundance, we ensure a safari experience like no other.

A classic hunting safari is only as exceptional as the team behind it. At Dries Visser Safaris, we take pride in exceeding your expectations with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring every aspect of your adventure is seamless and unforgettable.

Our mission is to ensure you experience your African safari in all its glory. We treat each hunter as an individual, customizing your hunt to match your expectations and abilities. Rifle hunting is primarily conducted on foot using a spot-and-stalk approach, though other methods can be employed to suit the conditions and each hunter’s capabilities.

African Game is Extremely Tough. Many African species, from plains game like kudu and impala to dangerous game like buffalo or elephant, are well-adapted, strong, and resilient. A shot that might be effective on North American game may not suffice here. This means accuracy and shot placement are critical.

Shooting Sticks are Essential. Most shots are taken from shooting sticks rather than freehand. Sticks provide stability, reduce fatigue, and improve accuracy—especially important when tracking or shooting at a moving target in open terrain. Practicing from sticks repeatedly ensures muscle memory and confidence in a real hunting scenario.

Caliber and Bullet Selection Matter. Choosing the correct caliber and bullet type is not just about power—it’s about ensuring ethical, humane kills. Some smaller calibers may be fine for antelope but inadequate for buffalo or lion. Bullet design (soft point, controlled expansion, solid, etc.) should match the game species to maximize penetration and stopping power.

Confidence and familiarity with your rifle are essential, and our expert team will guide you in choosing the appropriate calibre for your safari.
